As a ‘motivational’ speaker your role is to motivate. So, to ensure that I do ‘practise what I preach’ I’ve started walking an hour aidless a day. Whether it’s on a beach or at a park so far I’ve done it. At a conference I recently presented at, a lady stated that ‘There was no such thing as plateau. If you plateau in recovery it means that you need change”. For me, the longevity of recovery means that I’ve been reluctant to initiate this change. Guilty, I know I’ve plateaued. However, I know that I need to keep trying for my physical and emotional well being. So… I’ve attached a photo of my first sand walk. Not at all like the ’sand dune’ sprints I once did, but definitely a lot harder and more rewarding.
Emma!
It is inspiring to hear of your approach and discovery of rehabilitation improving factors in your life! I so appreciate exercise–it keeps my neurons growing, connecting, and it keeps me in the shape and readiness to have fun and try to be my best! I spend about a half hour to an hour each day on my recumbent exercise bike! I love your website, and I am inspired by your example! Thank you!!
