I recently had the pleasure of presenting to Recovery Station team members on Therapeutic Alliance from my dual perspective as a therapist and person with lived experience.
Through their  personalised and high-quality allied health therapy and interventions, the Recovery Station team aim to empower their participants to live a quality life. I hope that my involvement empowered them!  Hopefully enhancing the effectiveness of their roles and also the experience of all those that receive their care.
Here’s a little of what was said about the event:
Emma brought a unique and invaluable perspective to our virtual gathering. As a qualified Occupational Therapist who later experienced a life-changing stroke, Emma has navigated the healthcare system from both sides. This dual experience as both a practitioner and a patient has given her unparalleled insights into the importance of a strong therapeutic alliance.
We recently had the pleasure of hosting an incredible virtual event with the amazing Emma Gee, an Occupational Therapist and Stroke Survivor. Emma’s heartfelt presentation on building stronger therapeutic alliances moved and inspired us all.  Her insights, blending clinical knowledge with lived experience, reminded us of the power of genuinely listening, adapting to evolving goals, and making every conversation meaningful.
Emma Gee’s presentation has left a lasting impact, especially through these key insights noted by Meagen. Her reflections on building a strong therapeutic alliance are not just theoretical concepts but practical tools that we believe can significantly enhance patient care and outcomes.

Emma’s words, “Take a collaborative approach….work with me rather than for me,” encapsulate the essence of a strong therapeutic alliance. This principle of active client participation is one we’re committed to embodying in every interaction.
