I’m thrilled to have co-authored Chapter 34: Occupational Therapy Process and Assistive Technology in OccupationalTherapy in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand: 3rd Edition -Professional and Practice Issues. What I loved most about this opportunity was being able to bring my lived experience as an OT and assistive technology user into the chapter — alongside an amazing group

of people whose expertise added so much depth and value to the conversation.

Throughout the chapter, I was able to weave in my own experience, sharing examples of the assistive products I use &, importantly, the process my therapists and I have worked through together to achieve good AT outcomes that are connected to my goals, needs and life.Because good assistive technology isn’t simply about finding the “right product”. It’s about understanding the person, what matters to them, what they want to do, and collaborating to find solutions that genuinely fit.

I’m incredibly grateful to have contributed to this chapter and to see lived experience represented within OT education in such a meaningful way.A big thank you to everyone involved in bringing this chapter together!
