Twenty years after my stroke and today was a big day.

A full day lecturing, followed by my weekly rehab session with my physio. Then my own rehab; walking the streets near home, without my walking frame.

I’m exhausted.

But I also know this movement matters. When I keep moving, everything else in my life becomes more possible. When I stop, the nerve pain, fatigue and sleep challenges all become harder to manage. This makes even the simplest daily tasks feel heavier.

Rehabilitation doesn’t really end for many of us. It just becomes part of everyday life.

Twenty years on, I’m still walking and showing up one step at a time.
