I certainly ‘love’ my life but not sure I’ll ever ‘love’ my disability.

I watch Dylan Alcott in awe. He is certainly so deserving of the title of ‘Australian of the Year 2022’ and continues to play an instrumental role in shifting society’s perceptions about disability. However, I’m not sure I love for my disability. I read an article written by @george Taleporas which echoed my thoughts about this.

So, Dylan has grown to ‘love’ his disability, perhaps oneway I will. However, whilst acquiring my disability has opened up different opportunities for me, I think the ongoing impact of living everyday with this is not something I feel I’ll ever associate with love.

Food for thought.
